Goodbye 2023 and hello 2024! Korean beauty and makeup products have their own different reputation than regular brand names we know of. Thanks to their collaboration with popular Korean pop idols, they have gained fame for all the right reasons! One, because your favorite idol is a brand ambassador and wears the product, or two, the products are THAT good! It's not just the skincare they have figured out, Korean beauty products are on another level with their formulation and designs.
In this beginner’s guide, I will highlight some of my favorite K-beauty products that I use, and you should know about to create that effortless daily look with a soft-blush afterglow. All the shades and products I use are written in the bracket for your reference, but make sure that the shade compliments your skin tone. I am light-skinned, so you might want to choose shades that are better suited to match yours.
1. Banila Co | Covericious Ultimate White Cushion [#Shade- Rose]
This is a cushion foundation more focused on building up little by little since the formula is thicker and creamier. This is perfect if you don’t wear much makeup and only want to blur your blemishes and scars. This cushion is perfect, it has excellent coverage, and it leaves a mixture of matte and glow, a luxurious finish on the skin. This foundation, unfortunately, does not cater to darker skin tones, so an alternative I found similar to this is the ‘Say What?! Foundation’ by UOMA Beauty.
2. Wonjungyo | Fixing Blur Powder [#Shade- Plain Pink]
This powder blends seamlessly into the base giving a long-lasting finish, especially covering the pore unevenness. It doesn’t break apart even after a long day out as the brand boasts its formula to prevent crumbling. The best way to apply this powder is to use a powder brush instead of the cushion to achieve that natural sheer finish. You can also apply this powder in excessively oily areas, over the cheek area and jawline.
3. WAKEMAKE | Mix Blurring Volume Shading [#Shade- Soft Cool]
The gradient mix in this contour perfectly blends into the skin giving a more natural chisel without harsh shading. The color is very natural and seems like an actual shadow, especially good for nose shading. Its dual brush can be used on both sides for larger and smaller areas in the nose, however, I would recommend a larger shading brush for the jawline sculpting. The best part is that it is completely vegan-certified!
4. lilybyred | Luv Beam Cheek Balm [#Shade- Cheeky Lavender]
Cute from the inside out, this cream blush applies smoothly and evenly layers onto the makeup. It is highly pigmented, so you don’t waste a lot of the product, starting light and gradually adding on based on your look. It has a satin-like dewy finish, which helps achieve a sheer and natural look. Its creamy texture lasts longer than powder bushes, which is a win for us. This blush has colors catering to both warm and cool-toned skins.
5. peripera | Ink The Velvet [#shade- spring salmon]
When it comes to lip tints, peripera is the go-to brand with its 40+ color variety, creamy texture, and long-lasting stain. The formula is oily and easy to blend which has a natural matte finish, i.e., it does not crack or look layered on your lips at all. If you’re new to lip tints, they are very blend-able and easy to make more sheer for a natural look or you can also keep it thick for a full lip.
